A Masterpiece ! An immortal song that made Lata....Legend has that Rajkumari was signed for all songs in this movie - and Lata ended up singing only one - that made even the gods take notes on music....I know one story that Omkarnath Thakur - for whose welcome other singers used to take a pause in their classical concerts - stopped completely in the middle of his own concert. A radio was playing Aayega...and he says.."woh sangeet hai...mein ab nahin gaa saktaa iske aage.." That was Lata!

The writer and director of this movie was Kamal Amrohi (Syed Amir Haider Kamal Naqvi ). The story was originally titled Haveli but picturised under the name Mahal.

Hauntingly beautiful music by Khemchand Prakash. This song put Lata on top among singers.

NO good thing ever dies and this song is a good song in pure literary sense, it is everlasting for generations

Excellent song-------poetic master-piece. Such beautiful songs are no longer made----sad. Film industry has gone the wrong way these days-------full of nudity and loud noisy irritating music----just noise , and shaking bodies-----no more pristine human emotions of LOVE & HOPE , as it is in this LOVELY song. How the so-called modern life / music is disgustingly de-humanizing.

The song may be 60 years old but is yet as fresh as y'day. I 1st heard it good 30 years ago and remain in love with it to date. :-)
