@TheMachinimation The US and UK were, and still are brothers in arms. The original statement was naive for that reason only. Churchill exclaimed "We have won the war" on hearing that Japan bombed Pearl Harbor as he realized US help was on the way. He was right.

@LesGomez I said that the USA's supposed 'savior' of the Allied Forces was an overstatement. I will not deny that the USA's contribution of Men and Materials was vital to the allied campaign, but to say that we would all be hailing Hitler at this point in time without US aid is drastically niave. Operation Sealion was already called off before the US was even involved, moreover only 10% of the German forces fought in North Africa, hardly the magnitude of resistence that the Red Army encountered.
